to Improve
Your Smile
This is a conservative way to restore the missing part of a tooth due to trauma or decay. We offer inlays in several materials.
Gradia - a synthetic resin strengthened with glass fibre to match the colours of your own teeth. This material is similar to tooth structure which does not abrade the surface of the opposing teeth, it is not stiff and does not break. Life expectancy is about 5-8 years.
Ceramic - a really beautiful and aesthetic but its physical properties are more unfavourable than gradia as ceramic is stiffer and can break. It has to be thick to avoid breaking and so more tooth structure needs to be removed. Life expectancy is about 5-8 years.
Gold inlays - for a long term solution for those who don’t mind showing gold in the mouth. Life expectancy is about 15-20 years.
Crowns
A crown sometimes called a “cap” is an artificial restorative that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth making it strong and giving it the shape of a natural tooth. Crowns can also improve the appearance of misshapen or discoloured teeth. Crowns are made of metal or gradia/porcelain or gradia/porcelain with metal inside for strength.
Bridge
A bridge is one way to replace missing teeth. It fixes a replacement tooth (or teeth) to the natural teeth on either side of the gap. Some bridges have crowns at each end and others are fixed to the surface of the teeth next to the gap. The type of bridge needed is customised to the individual case preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible.
